Constructability Review
Technical plan reviews identify framing conflicts, deflection requirements, and coordination concerns before fabrication, helping project teams reduce field modifications, RFIs, and avoidable change orders.
Frame X Systems helps project teams incorporate slotted deflection track into fully coordinated cold-formed steel framing packages. Our architect-led design, engineering, BIM coordination, and precision manufacturing support wall systems that accommodate structural movement while protecting intended partitions, exterior assemblies, and project schedules. Get a constructability-focused solution designed to arrive installation-ready for your build.

Coordinated design, engineering, manufacturing, and delivery support for movement-accommodating cold-formed steel wall assemblies.

Cold-formed steel framing design and engineering coordinate load-bearing systems, wall assemblies, shop drawings, and structural documentation around project-specific movement and performance requirements.
Three-dimensional framing models coordinate slotted track, steel studs, architectural elements, structural systems, and MEP conditions to identify clashes before construction begins.
Early collaboration with architects and project stakeholders helps optimize wall details, constructability, engineering feasibility, and prefabricated framing strategies for the intended building design.
Engineered models guide factory production of cold-formed steel panels and framing components, improving dimensional accuracy and reducing on-site cutting, handling, and adjustments.
Framing components are delivered in installation sequence to help limit jobsite congestion, simplify material handling, and keep crews supplied according to the construction workflow.
Slotted deflection track is most effective when it is detailed as part of a coordinated wall system—not treated as an isolated material choice. Frame X Systems brings architects, engineers, contractors, and developers together early to align movement allowances with framing, exterior conditions, and installation requirements. BIM-guided engineering and precision-built components help create a clearer path from approved plans to predictable field installation.

Principal Owner / Architect
Stephen Baker is the Principal Owner and Architect of Frame X Systems, bringing over 28 years of construction and architectural experience to the company he founded. As principal of both Frame X Systems and Baker Architects / Baker Studios, Stephen pioneered the architect-led approach to cold-formed steel framing, built on the belief that constructability challenges should be resolved before construction begins rather than during it. He leads the company's design philosophy, integrating BIM coordination and precision manufacturing to deliver installation-ready framing systems nationwide. Stephen is also a prolific educator, producing video content on construction cost savings, insulation techniques, risk management, and framing package specifications for architects, contractors, and developers. His vision continues to drive FrameX's mission of faster, cleaner, and more efficient construction outcomes for clients across the country.
A deflection track creates a connection at the top of a non-load-bearing steel stud wall that can accommodate vertical movement in the structure above. It helps keep the wall from unintentionally carrying floor or roof loads. When correctly detailed, the assembly allows the structure to move while maintaining the intended wall position and supporting the performance of adjacent finishes or exterior assemblies.
