Drift Clip Engineering
Engineering support for drift clip connections and cold-formed steel framing details, including coordinated structural documentation, shop drawings, and installation-ready framing specifications.
Frame X Systems provides architect-led drift clip coordination within fully engineered cold-formed steel framing packages. From early plan review through BIM coordination, precision manufacturing, and sequenced delivery, we help project teams resolve movement, connection, and constructability details before they affect the jobsite. The result is an installation-ready system designed to reduce field adjustments, delays, and costly change orders.

Coordinated design, engineering, manufacturing, and delivery support for drift clip details within cold-formed steel framing packages.
Engineering support for drift clip connections and cold-formed steel framing details, including coordinated structural documentation, shop drawings, and installation-ready framing specifications.
Three-dimensional coordination aligns drift clip details with architectural, structural, and MEP systems to identify clashes and improve field accuracy before fabrication begins.
Architect-led plan reviews identify framing conflicts, connection challenges, and sequencing concerns early, helping teams reduce RFIs, revisions, and change orders during construction.
Early collaboration with architects, engineers, and contractors optimizes framing layouts, connection strategies, engineering feasibility, and prefabrication efficiency for the complete project.
Engineered cold-formed steel wall panels, trusses, and framing components are manufactured for dimensional accuracy, reduced on-site cutting, and more predictable installation.
Prefabricated framing components are delivered in an installation-focused sequence to reduce material handling, limit site congestion, and support a more efficient construction workflow.
Drift clips are most effective when they are considered within a fully coordinated framing system—not treated as an afterthought in the field. Frame X Systems combines architect-led design assist, structural engineering, BIM coordination, and precision manufacturing to help project teams address connection and movement details before fabrication. Each package is developed for clearer installation, fewer jobsite surprises, and a more efficient path from approved plans to delivered framing components.

Principal Owner / Architect
Stephen Baker is the Principal Owner and Architect of Frame X Systems, bringing over 28 years of construction and architectural experience to the company he founded. As principal of both Frame X Systems and Baker Architects / Baker Studios, Stephen pioneered the architect-led approach to cold-formed steel framing, built on the belief that constructability challenges should be resolved before construction begins rather than during it. He leads the company's design philosophy, integrating BIM coordination and precision manufacturing to deliver installation-ready framing systems nationwide. Stephen is also a prolific educator, producing video content on construction cost savings, insulation techniques, risk management, and framing package specifications for architects, contractors, and developers. His vision continues to drive FrameX's mission of faster, cleaner, and more efficient construction outcomes for clients across the country.
Drift clips are connection components used in certain cold-formed steel framing conditions to help accommodate anticipated vertical movement or deflection in the primary structure while maintaining the intended framing relationship. Their application depends on the structural system, wall type, loading, and project-specific engineering. Frame X Systems coordinates these details within the broader framing design rather than treating them as isolated hardware selections.
